Gardening Guru’s what is this creepy crawly hanging around.

This year I planted Dill around some flowers to prevent the creepy crawlers eating my flowers. They love the dill and so far have stayed away from my flowers.

They are non-stop eaters and are a bright green striped color. I saw one digging in the ground, slowly making a hole for, what I don’t know. Later in the afternoon, the hole was covered.

I would appreciate any help you can provide on what they are, are they good pest and do they just eat and have babies?

Thanks for all your help!

  1. You’re going to have some beautiful butterflies soon! They definitely have voracious appetites and may eat your dill down to the stalk, unfortunately. Around here, they love to eat my parsley. I always plant extra plants so we can share…. 😁

      1. They are soon to be butterflies, I forgot the technical name for but so excited I feed the whole crew. There are still 10 or so out finishing up the dill. How are you doing? I’m doing a little better after my Ketamine treatment. Today dealing with my depression but it will pass. Give me some good news! 🙂

      2. Aw your the soon-to-be-butterfly mamma, looking after them all. I’m glad the ketamine has helped a little, but do take things easy and be kind to yourself. Depression is tough even on the better days. Do you have any plans for the weekend? Maybe something nice you can do for yourself, sitting outside to read a good book or some good TV series to watch? I’ve not been doing too well but I’m hoping to be productive today & then enjoy some Netflix with my favourite ice cream tonight (small things to look forward to eh, but they mean a lot). Sending hugs xxxx

        1. I went swimming last night, light exercise on my arms, very light on the legs. I’m in love with my swim noodle.I found spending time away from everything is so relaxing. Even when it’s quite in the house, my husband is still on the computer, the dogs wanting attention. It felt so good last night. I know being depressed on top on the pain made the break feel that much better. I have so many spa day goodies but being in the pool feels great right now. I’m working hard to keep to a self-care day several times a week. Have you being dealing with Fibromyalgia or other illness? I hope you feel better today, remember to be gentle on yourself. Take care, sending hugs!

      1. Papilio polyxenes, the black swallowtail, American swallowtail or parsnip swallowtail, is a butterfly found throughout much of North America. It is the state butterfly of Oklahoma and New Jersey. 🙂

  2. What impresses are the colors. They shine along the brush. From gardening, I do not know anything. So I have no knowledge to give help in this regard.
