Actress and comedian Amy Schumer is being treated for Lyme disease
Actress and comedian Amy Schumer has announced on Instagram that she’s being treated for Lyme disease.
“Anyone get LYME this summer? I got it and I’m on doxycycline,” she wrote. “I have maybe had it for years. Any advice? Can you have a glass of wine or 2 on it?”
“I know to stay out of the sun. I’m also taking these herbs from cape cod called lyme-2,” Schumer continued, asking followers to comment with their own experience with Lyme disease. “I also want to say that I feel good and am excited to get rid of it.”
Amy Schumer is a cousin to Chuck Schumer, the Minority Leader of the US Senate. Senator Schumer has also had Lyme disease.
Here’s what she posted on Instagram today:

I had no idea they were related thank you for the info, as now I might just rethink my opinion of her comedy and laugh a bit more. It’s truly one of gods great medicinal resources. We have thought for a number of years my husband may have Lyme. I think it’s time for a round of tests from a physician who will actually take it seriously. The more famous people who come forward the better for those who cannot get an ear from a qualified doctor. I appreciate Amy’s non reluctance to come out as it were.

Here’s the rub with Lyme testing, there are so many strains of Lyme. Most doctors only test for three to five strains. I was almost dying a didn’t test positive for Lyme. It’s crazy, I feel great now and tested positive for one strain. If you husband has been sick for some time, find a Lyme Literate Doctor, one place to go is ILADS, they are a group most Lyme doctors join. They are very protective and will probably ask many questions before taking a message. They will then have a doctor in you area give you a call or they will offer a phone number. Lyme doctors are still treated badly by the CDC and insurance companies. If your husband is very sick I highly recommend my doctor, Dr. Jemseck in Washington D.C., he saved my life and is a leading Infectious disease doctor. Good luck. I’m here if you have any questions.

When I first got tested for TM, they tested for hundreds of other diseases and viruses, including Lyme disease. When I later found out what it was, I was so ‘happy’ not to Lyme cos the thought of a ‘tick’ causing it made me feel sick. Now I know Lyme can be treated and ‘cured’, my TM can’t be.
