I Bought Myself A Birthday Present

Looking for the Light

I turned 61 this month and splurged on a new piece of furniture for my office. The old piece was tiny and had no storage space. The new cabinet is colorful and has plenty of room to store all the goodies I don’t want to lie about. I haven’t used the television in years so I don’t mind covering it with photos and flowers. Treating oneself is important, and I consider it a boost to my mental health.

I hope you take care of yourself too, it’s not the cost, it’s the joy you get from it.

  1. Happy birthday well belated birthday now, good for you treating yourself, people need to do that more often! I treated myself to a starbucks today I got a caramel frappuccino and a slice of carrot cake. X

    1. Thank you Rachel, the color makes me think of the bluest oceans I’ve seen. It was affordable and it brings sunshine to my days! Enjoy the time left of Prime Days. We loaded up yesterday. Our can dog food was 30% off, I was shocked! They are having an awesome sale on Pit Boss pellets. We bought several 40 lb bags. :)

  5. Happy Birthday month! Yes, treating ourselves is important! I tend to think of furniture as brown – the color of the wood, but I would love to have something in a different color like what you bought. You’ve inspired me!

    1. I love wood, so many grains but there is room for fake or painted wood in feel good colors. I also have a blue wood side table downstairs, it livens up the room. The new peice is MDF and it good quality, it only cost $150 and will last for years. It has a ton of storage and brightens up my office. It’s the only color furniture in the room which makes it pop. I do have a rug with the same color in it. Thanks for the birthday wishes, 61 feels good.

    1. The color makes me think of the ocean which is one of my favorite places to be. I thought we are were a bit closer in age but my memory fades at times. Going for 3 months without TV is a long time for you, did something make you stop or just haven’t seen anthing interesting. I’m at a point in life where I feel like I’m reaching a peak and at the same time may die in my sleep on any given night. It’s a strange place. But I am happy and I haven’t been able to say that in so long. Thank you for the birthday wishes! They are special coming from you. Hugs.

    1. Thank you Ellie, the color makes me think of the ocean and the ocean always makes me happy. I think because my childhood was so traumatic, I make a big deal of my birthday and treat myself even it it’s something small. Just the act of celebrating my birth which was not done when I was born gives me strength. I didn’t pay much for it but it adds so much color to the office. So glad I bought it. Take good care.

    1. Thank you Ann. I’m fortunate to be able to treat myself to something speacial on top of what my husbands gets me. More like it, we both agree on how much we are going to spend on birthdays each year and we go but what we want. It works so much better that way. He doesn’t understand my taste at all. :)
