I’m having a rough day so the history is short but quite interesting this week. Have a great day. M

This Day In History: 08/08/1974 – Nixon Resigns

On this day in 1974, on an evening televised address, President Richard M. Nixon announces his intention to become the first president in American history to resign. With impeachment proceedings underway against him for his involvement in the Watergate affair, Nixon was finally bowing to pressure from the public and Congress to leave the White House. “By taking this action,” he said in a solemn address from the Oval Office, “I hope that I will have hastened the start of the process of healing which is so desperately needed in America.”On this day in 1974, on an evening televised address, President Richard M. 1. Before my time but I obviously know of Watergate & Nixon’s eventual resignation. Reading this made me think, ‘I think America, and the UK, could both do with some “healing” now, too!’
I’m sorry it’s so rough for you today. Rest and take good care of yourself. Sending hugs  ♥
