I need help connecting my blog to Facebook-can you offer some simple instructions?

I set up my FaceBook account yesterday and my skills are at the most basic level. I went to the FAQ’s on WordPress and could not get connected. I have no doubt it’s user error.

Since we’re social distancing, maybe some of you more advanced people can provide a more basic way for my to publish my blog on the FaceBook page.

I appreciate you, please keep your distance, see about neighbor, stay aware of your mental health by getting outdoors for fresh are and speaking to family and friends. For me not much has changed, I don’t get out much anyway. The extra measures are with my husband as he buys groceries, making sure he uses Clorox wipes in the truck and we wash our hands after touching the groceries. Yesterday I wiped down my Starbucks cup with a Clorox wipe, that felt strange but I had to get out of the house.

Take care of yourself, this too shall pass. Not soon enough but we want as few deaths as possible. Be sure to check on your elderly neighbors and family, you can always wear a mask, gloves and leave groceries at door. I saw my neighbors daughter bringing him groceries this morning.

Sending big hugs to each of you now more than ever!!!!!!!

  1. I now just publish on Facebook manually as doing it through WP seemed to mess it up a bit. So I just write the title and copy/paste the URL in a Facebook post. Had a quick skim of the comments and it looks like maybe you’ve been able to set it up now..? Is there anything else you need to do that you’re unsure of? Let me know and I’ll see if I can help.
Please stay safe & as well as possible, Melinda. Scary, uncertain times indeed. Sending love right back at’cha!  ♥

    1. Today FB put my account on hold today, this is the second time. I only had my photo, a very brief description of who I am and followed three chronic illness sites. How they pull out of the air to hold mine is crazy. The first time was similar and they never got back to me on why, actually never received any feedback. I’m to the point of thinking that FB isn’t for me. Staying calm here, staying indoors except coffee run today. We keep Clorox wipes in car and wipe everything we touch. Don’t forget to wipe down your credit card and keys. I have my first review thru Chonic Illness Bloggers so I’m going to steal your style and try to learn from your previous one so I can give them a fair but complete. Take care. M xx

  2. Have you set up a page in Facebook for your blog? Signing up for Facebook creates a timeline for you, but you can’t publish to the timeline from outside of Facebook; you have to set up a page for that. To do that, sign on to Facebook, and in the upper right-hand corner, you’ll see the word “Create.” Click on that, and the first choice on the menu that appears is Page. Click that, and you get a screen that asks if this is a business or a community. You’ll want to click Community, then give your page a name (e.g. Looking For The Light) and a category (e.g. Blog).

When you’ve done that (and I presumed that you hadn’t done that yet), go to My Sites > Tools > Marketing > Connections and click Connect on the Facebook line. It’ll ask you to select a page from a dropdown box. Since you’ll only have the one page, select it and confirm it. That will connect the two, and now any time you post to your blog, a message goes to Facebook. I would then publicize your page to your friends, so they can “like” and “follow” it.

Let me know if this works…

      1. When I went to my page, FB presented me with a box with all my followers in it and asked if I wanted to invite anyone. I just checked the boxes of a few people and FB sent a Messenger message to them inviting them to like and follow the page. Another thing you can do is write a post on your timeline letting your followers know that you have a page. I did both.

  3. I didn’t connect my blog to my FB page through WordPress because I wanted to be able to choose what time (rather than it going automatically when I published my post). I just use my ‘share’ buttons to share on FB, Pinterest, and Twitter. Sorry I’m no help here…. I hope someone can tell you how they do it. Blessings to you!
