Fact: The current American flag was designed by a high school student

It started as a school project for Bob Heft’s junior-year history class, and it only earned a B- in 1958. His design had 50 stars even though Alaska and Hawaii weren’t states yet. Eisenhower called to say his design was approved, Heft’s teacher changed his grade to an A.

  1. Hahah these are brilliant! You know, I keep thinking of funny memes of cows I’ve seen now and I’m getting them confused with horses. I never knew they didn’t have upper teeth at the front! I also had no idea the American flag was a history project – that kid should have got an A* and a couple of dollars. Imagine what that sort of thing would be worth these days. He would have been a millionaire. x
