Sunday Thoughts

40 years ago today I married my high school sweetheart, I was 18 years old.

I had the perfect dress.

My father walked me down the aisle.

His parents paid for cases and cases of champagne, two uncles got drunk!

I passed out twice during the Catholic ceremony due to the Texas August heat.

His parents paid the Preist to turn on the air early and he forgot.

The first time I stepped away from the kneeler my gramps thought I was backing out and came towards the front of the church.

We played house for a year and were divorced one year later.

It’s interesting to look back at our learning experiences.

My current husband and I have been together 20 years and married for 19.

Life has a way of working itself out!

  1. Aww…you have a great way of telling that story lol.
I wish I could do the same with my relationship with the father of my 2 oldests…ugh 🙄lol.
Luckily, I met someone wonderful who helped me raise my 2 oldest kids (and we added 2 more lol). We’ve been married 17 1/2 years, together almost 19.

    1. Thanks, Aimee, we all learn and you’ve learned a lot thru the years! I’m so happy to see you smiling and enjoying life again. You’ve kept your son’s life alive while living yours for you and your family. 🙂 M

  2. Passing out, twice, from the heat was a sign! 🙂 Wonderful that your path brought you together with your intended husband! I was married at 18 the first time around, as well. Said our goodbyes 2yrs to the date of our wedding. Seemed fitting! Third time was my charm.😍
