This is a question I asked WordPress and walked away empty-handed. I need someone who can explain how the Email numbers are so much higher than the number under Stats.
Do I add the numbers together to find the total number of views that day?
I’m thrilled to see the numbers under Emails. I need to know where all these extra views are coming from and how to apply them to my stats for the day.
If you understand the second number under emails applies to the daily number, PLEASE HELP ME :)

You don’t have to be an email follower to view your posts. I can view them in my reader as a follower. Or folks can view them from Google searches trigger by post content. And email followers have to open your post on your site for it to be counted as a view.

So the stats show 45 and below says 250, that 250 means nothing unless they open. So you add the opens to your daily stats?

Believe that is case. Views mean that someone hits your link to your post. If they get an email but don’t open post link, it isn’t counted.

So the high number you see under the Email Section is how many people saw the post and all that counts is the opens. I’m still confused about how I can have less than 10 followers that follow by email. The 307 number is from where? So basically we have no idea where the 307 comes from but I can count the opens with my stats? Thanks.

What’s the difference between opens and clicks. I am having a hard time since the section says, opens and clicks. What does open mean and how can the number be so high? Today I published 1 post, my views are low in the stats but the number went very high shortly after printing. But I only count clicks. I’m sorry if I sound slow to get it. I’m in withdrawal of one medication and it’s like meeting the devil! Thanks.

I believe you are right. But WordPress support can confirm.

You’re so funny! WP support, I’ve already been to them and they could not explain as well as you did. WP support for many things is worthless. I have so many things medically that I’m not going to worry about. Thanks for all your help.

Another thought I had petaining to the low number of email follwers but having 307 views. It possibly could be that 307 people are subscribed to your blog through their email and are getting email updates but aren’t following you yet. So whenever you post something, it goes directly to their email and they click on your post to read it. That’s where the views come in at. Idk, it was a thought. As far as where the rest of the views are coming from, they could be coming from several different places like wordpress.com reader, search engines, Facebook, or anywhere else.

There is no way less than 10 email followers create 307 under the email section. Don’t know, would just like to know where the number comes from and how to apply it to my total number under stats. Have a great day.

Melinda- I don’t know if this will answer your question but I’ll give it a stab.
Okay I went into my stats to see where all my views were coming from and there are a variety of places. One is from Facebook, the other views are coming from gravatar.com, more views are from WordPress.com reader, more views are from WordPress Android app, ronovanwrites, and mail01.orange.fr
How I know where all my views are coming from is I go into my stats, scroll down to where it says “views and visitors” and it tells me where all my views are coming from.
I hope this helps answer your question.

Good luck with that. I’ve already contacted them a month or so ago and they were not able to give me an answer that made sense. I sent the post I wrote about Bipolar & my experiences to my therapist said it was damn good. She had never said that before and I thought maybe I could submit it as an article. Can I ask you a favor? Does the post sound professional and helpful to people who read it. I have not been published and want to accomplish the goal if I my work is good enough. If you could quickly read the post and give me your thoughts? You’re the most qualified person to give feedback. Don’t spend a lot of time on it, just glance over to see if something stands out.
Thank you so much. If now is not a good time to read it, no problem. Your life comes first. :)
