I left the hospital 6 weeks ago and still have an issue with my stay. I will file a claim with the Texas Medical Board on the doctor who told me my eGFR was 20 which would mean, I’m not far from death. He said I may not make it out of the hospital. The lab and doctor made a rookie mistake by not testing again since it was so low. I was in complete shock and started calling my brother. I was crying so hard he could not understand what I was saying and had to call my husband to find out what was happening.
How would you feel?
If a doctor told you something devastating like you’re dying in a few days?
If the hospital loses your medication list and you don’t get your meds for three days? I went into withdrawal due to not having medication?
If the janitor came in with only a screwdriver, rammed it around, then rinsed it off in your sink?
The list is long so I’ll stop here. Please think about how you would react if faced with these challenges.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts and thanks for reading.
Melinda

So sorry this all happened to you Melinda. The question is…who is doing their job? Really I know we are all imperfect humans but it sure does seem that an awful lot of mistakes are being made out in the world. Other people’s mistakes cost me time and money. I’ve finally decided that my best bet is to stay home, and only leave the house to buy groceries and to put gas in my tank to go to the grocery store with.

I’m in no hurry to visit a hospital again. I think doctors are scheduling too many people for the same time frame which your appt. which causes your appt to get cut short. I don’t know what is going on at hospitals but they have gone down hill. :)

Hospitals must not have enough processes so this would not happen again. I did receive a letter from the President of the mother company. He was very nice and stressed he would sit down with the Executive team to go over my letter. :)

I’m sorry to hear that you had a difficult experience at the hospital. It’s understandable that you would want to file a complaint with the Medical Board.

It’s nuts that I had two hospitals traumatize me in 5 months. I have to move forward and pray I don’t have to go to the hospital anytime soon. :)

I would be absolutely horrified and so very angry they played with my life like that…That behaviour is traumatizing, in my opinion. A hospital losing your medication list, down to any medical professional allowing you, their patient, to go so far into withdrawal is scary. Not even a nurse would help you… Yes, file a complaint.

I am sorry you experienced that, Melinda. It must have been so scary. I am glad it didn’t come true and you are home now.

I would be horrified and angry not to mention shocked about being told that my death was imminent. Somehow, I am doubtful about any pending death.

Had I not have been in shock, I would have told him to run again. I can’t express the pain it caused.
