The family cookbook contains recipes from my Grandparents that were often used and are the type of food I grew up on. Good ole Southern food like my Gramps dumplings, to Grannies pecan pie.
What You Need
Butter cookie sheet first
Mix 1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 1/2 cups water
Half a cup of Karo
1 1/2 cup raw peanuts
1 butter/margarine
2 ts. Soda
1/2 ts. salt
Cookie sheet
How To Make
Set all your stuff on the stove before you start.
Mix white sugar, water, and Karo, and bring to a medium boil until it makes a hard thread from a spoon. Then add peanuts, butter/margarine.
Cook until it turns to medium tan, turn the heat off, and add salt and soda. Stir it up and it will turn white.
Pour in quickly on the cookie sheet.
Let it cool and then break up.
I loved this recipe, it was Granny’s.

I love it but my teeth might not hold up to something that hard. It’s so worth making and it’s very easy. My Granny would make a ton of Peanut Brittle at Thanksgiving and Christmas for anyone who visited.

I love that you have recipes that your grandparents used. I would love to have that. That’s one of the reasons I’m so diligent about writing my recipes down. Maybe, one day, my future grandchildren will want to use them.

When I look at the recipes memories flood my heart. Some of these recipes are very long and short on instructions. I’m saving those for last. One of my fav’s is Glory Cake, it was passed down from Gramps mother. It is a killer, so many items, it’s a cake we only cooked once a year because there are so many ingredients and the time it takes to make it. Have a great day and thanks for visiting and reading my post. :)

Gramps loved this recipe so much, she must have made it when he was still at home. It’s so good but you really have to commit time. But when you make it you’re so glad you did. :)
