Do you remember the first time you rode your bicycle without the training wheels?
I remember very well! I looked back to see if my dad was watching and ran into a telephone pole.

I can’t recall when I learned. Yours is a much more interesting and painful experience!! Ouch!

Hitting the pole is probably why it stuck with me. :)

I don’t remember the exact moment without training wheels, but I do remember the feeling of freedom riding my ten speed in high school and in my early 20s with the wind in my hair, imagining jumping with my horse while going over speed bumps. :) Thanks for the memories!

I had a feeling the question would spark some memories. :)

OMG, yes! The first time I rode a bike, it was a regular one—way too big for me because we didn’t have a kids’ bike. What an adventure that was!
I don’t know why I don’t receive the notification when you post… I follow you.

You might want to check your settings in Reader because recently I discovered WP had changed the setting and I wasn’t receiving notifications.

First time I rode a Billy cart I crashed into a parked car. Scrapped my chin on the road and looked like I had a goatee for weeks 🤣

Not so fun at the time but a great memory now.

My memory of that is empty as I never learned to ride a bike. The culprit: my foot falling into a crack of springboard at gymnastics creating a kind of pain phobia affecting my willingness to ride a bike

Wow, I can see how that could happen. There’s always today.

I sure do. We stayed a few days at my dad’s friend’s home. That was my first chance to get my hands on a bike.Unbelievably, the little boy let me have full access to his bike. I learned to ride by the end of the day. I think I got a bike the next Christmas. It was the biggest thrill of my life!

I became addicted to my bike and got a 10 speed for Christas at 11, I rode it everywhere, had a paper route at 12 and even rode around with my boyfriend when I started highs school. I’ve ad a few bikes as an adult, there’s one in the garge that’s 3 years old and I’ve never rode it. My agrophobia and cognative imparement mke it hard for me to get on it and go.
