I did an audit on all single use plastics in my home and swapped out products. Not sure if the same can be done outside Ireland on some products, but I found a company who sell paper towels in paper packaging – I also bought re-usable cloths so only use paper towels occasionally now. I found compostable parchment paper instead of tinfoil, compostable dental floss instead of plastic, and I cut out all plastic bottles of shampoo/conditioner/face cleanser, opting instead for soaps which come in paper wrapping.
In the long run these changes save on my pocket too!!

I’m glad you’ve taken the next steps for the planet. Yes, it helps the pocketbook as well is a bonus.

Me too! I would like to see more plastics available for recycling and the plastic wrapping on items like paapertowels and toilet paper. One thing I don’t understand and it annoys me is some companies are making the recycle symbol to hard to see or read. What great mind came up with that/ :)

I wish we had a local recycling facility or something straight forward like that

We’re lucky, our city makes recycling so easy. Each house is given a trash & recycle bin. We pay extra for two recycle bins. Each bin is made so that the trash truck can use a mechanical arm to pick them up. We also have bulk pick-up once a month and you can schedule a chemical pick-up. I’m so thankful for their efforts.
