It’s hard to pick one because each day brings a new curiosity. Photography has been a passion since I was a teenager, there is always something new to learn. If you counted the 30ish houseplants I have you would see my dedication and pride which requires daily attention, getting lost in time caring for them is a stress reliever.
The closest to my heart is looking at old photos of me with bad haircuts, celebrating birthdays with my Grandparents, Granny always made my favorite German Chocolate Cake with decorative candle holders. Photos of my Grandparents through the years always bring a smile and the 100+ year old photos of ancestors I never met is cool. I try to imagine what life was like at the time, what was the occasion of the photo and what their names are, not to mention what type of camera set up was used.
Everyone has a different interest and that is what makes people so interesting to talk to.

Thank you so much, Mary. I’ve been meaning to ask you about your journey into poetry. I write some in my head but they are not a style and I get insecure. I’m working on getting over that and just posting for me. I am at the age where I don’t care if people judge me but there is something about following so many poets, most have been published more than once, and me throwing my kindergarten work out there. I’m working on one, waiting for inspiration on the closing and I’m publishing. It doesn’t matter if it get’s likes or not but I’ve been writing in this style since I was a teen. :)

And that is how I write poetry, Melinda. I also have written since childhood. I typically like rhymes, so I count syllables and set a pattern–sometimes. Mostly, I write how I feel while viewing a photo or thinking of something.
Go for it, my friend. If it comes from the heart, it’s real.

Thanks for the encouragement. I know, it’s that I was reading about the styles and of course mine doesn’t fit that but I don’t fit many boxes. I like that about myself. Insecurity got the better of me.

At one time I would have said something particular for a hobby. Now it is whatever interests me at the time.

I have not been a tradition hobby person if you will, I get bored with one thing. Like you, I see where the day takes me, maybe it’s what I do now or maybe learn something new. Learning something new is for my brain not a skill.

Yes. Good way of learning for the brain than for the skill.
