Today We Celebrate Our 23rd Anniversary

Looking for the Light

David and I were close to 40 when we married and part of the reason for our success is that we talked about what traits we looked for in a lifelong partner, shared our complete backgrounds with each other, boundries and discussed possible issues we may have to face. I was completely honest about my mental illness and the challenges we would face. It was critical to put in all on the table before we were married.

Like all marriages, we’ve had tough finacial issues, medical and family issues but they never divided us. My Lyme Dieases treatment cost over $150,000 dollars none of which was covered by insurance which caused us to take a second mortgage on our house. He didn’t blink and was caring for me in the years that followed.

We had the same goals when we married and still share the same goals today. He has given me unconditional love, supported me in every way and even though he’s not one of many words, his actions always shows his love.

Marriage has ups and downs, for me it’s the downs that challenge your commitment, desire to communicate and comprimise.

    1. Being honest and laying everything on the table I believe is a big part of our success but also having the same values. Thank you for the kind words. You marriage has lasted a long time and just like us, it wasn’t our first. Or do I have that wrong and this is your first? I can’t remember. I really need to read your book again about how you found love again. Is it on Amazon? I would also write a review of course. :)

      1. My first marriage lasted 20 years, then I was single for 10 before David found me in 2011. We were married in Dec of 2012. My book, Trust the Timing, A Memoir of Finding Love Again, is on Amazon in paperback and also kindle. Thanks for asking. A review would be awesome! <3

    1. Thank you Mary, we had a quite day and relaxed, it was nice. He bought me two large orchid’s which were quite a surprise. Due to health struggles I forgot to get a card but he’s cool with that. This is both a second marriage for both and we both learned through that process what we were looking for if marriage came our way. He’s like my Gramps in that when you make a commitment, you keep it.
