Understanding the Consequences: How Loud Noise Exposure Can Lead to Ear Damage

Are you a fan of rock concerts, lively city streets, or perhaps adrenaline-fueled activities? While these experiences can be thrilling, have you considered the possible impact they have on your delicate ears? In this revealing blog post, we delve into the realm of high-decibel noise exposure and its harmful effects on our hearing abilities. From understanding the science of ear damage to exploring practical preventive measures, join us on this exploratory journey as we reveal how something as trivial as a few extra decibels can have lasting consequences. Get ready to prioritize your auditory health like never before.

Understanding the Perils of High-Decibel Noise Exposure

High-decibel noise exposure ranks amongst the leading causes of hearing loss. It can occur gradually over time or instantaneously due to a one-off exposure to loud noise. Unfortunately, hearing loss from noise exposure is irreversible. If you’ve suffered hearing damage due to an accident that wasn’t your fault, contact the likes of Schuerger Shunnarah trial attorneys as soon as possible.

Numerous sources of loud noise can potentially harm your hearing, including:

  • firearms
  • fireworks
  • power tools
  • music concerts and events
  • car stereos
  • engines

Loud noise exposure is also prevalent in the workplace, for instance:

  • factories
  • construction sites
  • agricultural machinery

The Types of Ear Damage from High-Decibel Noise Exposure

Four types of ear damage can result from high-decibel noise exposure:

Temporary threshold shift: Here, your hearing is temporarily impacted by loud noise but typically recovers within a few hours or days.

Permanent threshold shift: This refers to when your hearing is permanently damaged by loud noise, an irreversible condition.

Noise-induced hearing loss: This type of permanent threshold shift leads to a gradual deterioration in hearing over time.

Tinnitus: This is characterized by a ringing, buzzing, or other noise you perceive in your ears or head without any external source. Both temporary and permanent threshold shifts can trigger tinnitus.

Preventing Ear Damage from High-Decibel Noise

High-decibel noise exposure is a frequent cause of ear damage, leading to permanent hearing loss over time. It can also result in tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and vertigo (dizziness). There are several strategies to prevent ear damage due to loud noise:

  •  Use earplugs or earmuffs when you’re exposed to loud noise, such as when operating power tools, lawnmowers, or firearms.
  •  Adjust the volume on music players and other personal audio devices. If you can’t hear someone speaking from three feet away, the music is excessively loud.
  •  Avoid attending noisy events, like concerts and sports matches, without ear protection.
  • Maintain a distance of at least 25 feet from fireworks displays.

The Long-Term Consequences of Hearing Loss Due to High-Decibel Noise Exposure

There are numerous long-term effects of hearing loss resulting from high-decibel noise exposure. Some of these effects include:

Hyperacusis: A condition in which sounds are perceived as being far louder than they are. This can make everyday activities such as phone conversations or movie outings challenging.

Dizziness: People with hearing loss often report dizziness and balance issues. This is because the inner ear plays a pivotal role in maintaining balance.

If you’ve been exposed to high-decibel noise and are experiencing any of these symptoms, it’s crucial to consult a doctor for a thorough hearing evaluation. Neglected hearing loss can lead to social isolation, depression, and even dementia. So, don’t delay – have your hearing assessed today!

Managing and Treating Ear Damage from High-Decibel Noise Exposure

If you’ve been exposed to high-decibel noise, either through work or recreational activities, it’s vital to be aware of the potential ear damage. Here are some tips on managing and treating ear damage from such exposure:

  • Consult a doctor if you experience pain or hearing loss after exposure to high-decibel noise.
  • Avoid further exposure to loud noise. If unavoidable, always wear ear protection.
  • Rest your ears as much as possible and limit your time in noisy environments.
  • Clean your ears gently with a soft, dry cloth after exposure to loud noise.
  • Avoid using cotton swabs or other objects in your ear canal, as it can exacerbate the damage.

In Conclusion

Exposure to high-decibel noise can severely impact your hearing and should never be underestimated. Understanding the ramifications of prolonged exposure is crucial as it can cause permanent ear damage over time. Proactive measures such as wearing protective headphones, limiting exposure to loud noises, and steering clear from areas with high sound levels are all effective ways to reduce your risk of hearing loss or other adverse effects caused by long-term exposure to loud noise.

Blogger Highlight-She the bald blogger

Thank you for all the great feedback on the Blogger Highlight series, I’ve enjoyed meeting each blogger and sharing their site with you. This week we highlight a new blogger, She the bald blogger.

She the bald blogger

Hello my fellow readers!!..I’m Anshika from India.I’m 18 and currently pursuing Bachelor’s of science. I love writing, listening to music, art and styling up!!..and my main hobby is to take a lot of stress and crack bad jokes..rofl 🙂

I’ve had struggled with alopecia for 3 years of my life. When i went through extreme hair thinning, dandruff ,oily scalp issues and literally nothing sort of treatment worked for me that’s when i lost my patience and decided to shave my head off. It literally took hell lot of courage and wasn’t as easy as it sounds 😦 .After crying for all day long, finally gathered some strength and decided to open my blog on WordPress. So here I’m to motivate, share my feelings and to change the definition of beauty. There are many people out there who don’t beautiful or confident enough just because of their looks. I want to empower them and help them with their insecurities.

She may be young but she has some great ideas.

Let Me Tell You Where I’ve Been, You’ll Never Guess

I have not been on an exotic island, no ocean, no mountains not even to the spa. Although all sound good.

Photo by Atul Choudhary on Pexels.com

Last week my depression drug me into a hole I could not get out and I signed into my favorite Psych Hospital on Friday for Electro Convulsive Therapy (ECT). Many still have the images of One Flew Over The CoKoos Nest. That movie was dramatized although ECT was more difficult until doctors learned that by using a muscle relaxer along with the drugs the anesthesiologist uses it’s really a piece of cake. I usually have a headache and Friday I felt jaw pain but it didn’t last long.

It takes longer to prepare you than the treatment itself. ECT  makes you have a convulsion to get your brain to change channels. The number of treatments you need will vary, I’m hoping 5 is my magic number because I don’t want to have to roll into the following week. My husband has taken off so much time coming to see me every day but next week he will get really backed up at work. As he says, we do what we have to.

Trama

After meeting with the doctor for 10-15 minutes the doctor had the nerve to tell me:

I wasn’t Bipolar

Was overmedicated

My doctor had not taken care of me over the last 32 years

He said I did not have Dementia and should not take any of the meds I’m taking. In 2017 I saw a Neurologist about my Dementia, I scored a 17, very bad, on Thursday when I did the test I’m up to 21. Not great but it tells me the meds are slowing the progression.

*He had no right to say that to me, I’m in a Psych Hospital, the last thing you tell a person in distress is that type of information. He is an ass and I didn’t believe one word. My Psych doctor was surprised, he thought this doctor was a good one. I’ve already sent emails to the Chair of Psychiatry, Psych doctor, my therapist, and cc my husband. KARMA IS A BITCH!

Don’t let any doctor shake your confidence in the team you have. I would tell your doctor what was said but do not take anyone’s ideas except for your own doctor. I got mad as hell and wanted too much of him but knew better.

Cherry on Top

I almost laughed my ass off when he said that when I don’t get my way I act out. That has never been my personality and people that know me would say the opposite.

ECT

I had a treatment on Friday and will go back outpatient next week, going M, W & F. The worst thing about ECT to me is they have lower some of my medication right away and hold the others the night and morning of treatment. By the time they came to get me for ECT, it was going on at 11:00, and I was in full-blown withdrawal. Crying, wailing, asking for God’s help, my entire body was shaking, I could barely walk, and was starting to hyperventilate. Missing two Xanax sends me over the edge. I will be in withdrawal there days next week. It’s going to be a very rough week but we have to do what we have to do.

If you have a serious Mental Illness including Bipolar Disorder PLEASE don’t pass on ECT because it works miracles and it’s nothing like the movie which was overly dramatic, which sells movie tickets. Not the whole truth.

I’m still sore in a few places like my jaw but it’s much better than yesterday.

I have written a post on ECT before and will write another post on the history of treatments available for Mental Illness, you’ll be how barbaric it was before ECT.

I’m glad to be home, resting, and about to tackle some laundry.

I won’t be posting much since I only have two days without ECT. Then I hope to get back on my regular schedule. I’ve thought of many topics while in the hospital.

If you have any questions about ECT, leave me a comment and I’ll answer the best I can.

Creating A Healthy Romantic Relationship In Three Simple Steps

Creating a healthy romantic relationship can be hard for anyone, whether you have any kind of medical condition or not. But, sometimes it’s the people who are struggling the most with other aspects of their lives that find it the most difficult to have a romantic relationship. There are many reasons why this would be the case, but it’s important to understand that no matter what, it is possible if you want it to happen. In this article, we’re going to be taking a look at three things that you are going to need if you want to achieve this goal, so keep reading if you would like to find out more.

Photo by Vlada Karpovich on Pexels.com

Communicate

The first step to creating a healthy relationship is to communicate. Communication is the key to pretty much everything in life, including this. You are never going to get anywhere if you are unable to communicate with the people in your life that you are interested in, and this is especially the case if you are trying to have a romantic relationship. You have got to be able to talk about everything, knowing that you are safe and secure and that you feel heard.

Communication is a two-way street. You need to be listening to understand, not to respond, and you need to be willing to lay your feelings out as they are. Sometimes it gets messy, but as long as you are able to work through everything, that’s the main goal.

Trust

In order for there to be a healthy romantic relationship, you have got to trust the other person. There is no relationship if there is not a solid foundation of trust, and that’s what you need to understand. We know that it can be tough to believe someone when they say that they love you, or that they are never going to leave no matter what, but unless they give you a reason to believe otherwise, you have to trust their word.

You cannot live in a relationship where you are constantly second-guessing what is being said to you, or you don’t feel comfortable.

Understand

The final thing that we are going to say is that you have got to be understanding in a relationship. You have got to be willing to work through the hard times as well as the good times, even when it feels like there is nothing left there. But, at the same time, if there is nothing left and you need to look at a divorce attorney, do this before it gets nasty, and try to remain amicable. A relationship can still be healthy, even if it’s ending.

We hope that you have found this article helpful, and now see some of the things that you are going to need to do if you want to create a healthy romantic relationship. For people with chronic illness, it can be really hard to have these because in some cases the self-sabotage is real, but you can get there if you are willing to put the effort in. We wish you the very best of luck and hope that you manage to have a healthy and happy relationship going forward.

The Latest Development

I may be out of touch for a couple of weeks. I’m not sure when my computer will be available.

I’m checking into the hospital for a week of testing then moving to Psychiatric Hospital for ECT Treatments. I plan to get 3 ETC Treatments in-house and then move to outpatient treatment. Comparing my depression to other times I’ve needed ECT, I may need at least 6-9 treatments.

My depression, which I’ve kept from my husband and Therapist, has taken a nose dive to a dark and scary place. I started thinking about suicide and knew it was time to reach out.

Don’t follow my example! As soon as you feel depression coming on please share and ask for help.

I thought I would die quietly like my gramps but he didn’t have other illnesses making it quite painful at times.

I don’t normally write about my situations as they are going on but wanted you to know why I’ve disappeared.

Thank you so much for being there and sending your love.

I’m Checking In

I’m doing better by taking my anger out on politicians by writing to them and the local news in Austin. It’s made a small dent.

My Therapist doesn’t return from surgery for a week or two. Once she’s back I can start to process why two repressed memories came back, I’m hoping we can talk thru them in a couple of sessions, who knows.

I see my Nephrologist on the 19th, wow my birthday, and will know after labs if I’ve progressed to Stage 4 Kidney Disease. If I have progressed to Stage 4, I will start to close down all my sites as the time I have to live will be greatly reduced. I spend most of the day in bed because of symptoms from Kidney disease, I’m having trouble catching my breath and Fibro is raising its ugly head.

I have written several posts in my head and maybe tomorrow I’ll be able to publish at least one.

Thank you for being a big part of my life, the memories never end. Hugs!

The DEA’s Mission is Hurting The Mentally Ill

Here are some basics I’ve learned after one of the drugs I take could not be found in several surrounding cities month after month. This fight to find my drug each month forced me to withdraw and start a medication that is not targeted yet.

Photo by Jan Prokes on Pexels.com

If you take Xanax and related drugs or take stimulant medication in the United States you may find yourself without access to your prescription.

The DEA digging everywhere they can to catch doctors who overprescribe and the people who are selling their drugs on the street.

I highly respect what the DEA is doing to prevent overdosing, and arresting doctors who overprescribe Controlled Substance drugs. I was in shock by how dangerous Health Apps can be. In this case, the App referred all its participants to an unlicensed doctor who was overprescribing and even writing prescriptions for those that did not have one. Unless you have a death wish, I would not buy any drugs from Health Apps or Social Media.

If you take one of the targeted medications and have trouble filling your prescription every month because it’s on backorder. DON’T take your anger out on the pharmacy, it is totally out of their hands. Your anger needs to target the problem, The DEA.

Prescriptions for Controlled Substances CAN NOT be transferred to another pharmacy, PERIOD!

Here is the most important action you can take to reduce stress when trying to get your Controlled Substance medication filled. Don’t have your doctor call in a refill yet.

A week before your monthly prescription is due for a refill call your pharmacy to see if they have it in stock. If not call all the other pharmacies in your area to find where there is stock. Then ask your doctor to send in a refill, the sooner the better. You have survived a month but every month you may have to use another pharmacy if you can find it.

The DEA is leaving people who take their drugs legally, from a legitimate doctor left holding the bag. Many like myself can’t find their drug month after month and will find themselves in withdrawal and having to try something close that is not the target now. Your doctor will know.

If you would like to join me in anger, start learning more about the DEA and flood them with messages.

I’m having an emotional crisis right now

I was reading more about the three officers who shot a mentally ill woman thru the door. The three officers were fired but an investigation into the entire department needs to take place. What I saw on television, got to me.

It brought up the repressed memory of having a non-violent crisis in the front yard. Long story short I had an officer pull a gun on me. I never processed the trauma probably because I was fighting for my life with Lyme winning. I’ve been crying ever since the memory came back and I’ve been in bed crying.

I don’t know when I’ll be active when I stop crying or in August when I meet my new Psychiatrist. It’s deplorable that a woman considered wealthy, with great insurance, and doctors could not check me into a psychiatric hospital last night.

My crying is for all the others who don’t have my resources, what happens to those on the opposite end are often killed during a Mental Health call because Police have no training.

The governor looked into the eyes of all the families of mass gun shootings, promising to do something, no gun control because that’s not the issue. That’s the BS line from all Republicans. So he tells people at their most devastating moment he is going to make changes. HE sure did, he passed a 2 Billion Mental Health Bill and not one penny goes for Mental Health Services. All of the money is being spent to build new jails and jails with Psych hospitals. His stigma against those who are mentally ill says you all belong in jail. That set me on fire!!!!!

I’m going down the drain right now and will post when I can.

Are You Mentally Ill? What To Keep On You At All Times

In Texas, we’ve heard our Governor Greg Abbott say repeatedly that gun control was not the issue, we needed more Mental Health support. Here we are a year after the mass shooting at Uvalde and all we’ve heard is the same ole politics.

I had a Mental Health crisis and ended up with a gun pulled on me, very traumatic. I was lucky to be in front of my house and had my phone.

If you have a severe Mental Illness, you never know when you might have a crisis away from home. These tips will help if the Police get involved.

Have a card in your wallet that states:

Your name

What type of Mental Illness do you have

Your contact information or the contact of a family member

Doctors contact information

Wearing a medical bracelet would help since it’s one of the first things Police look for

Why are these tips important so important?

If you have a serious crisis there’s a chance you’re hallucinating, psychotic, or in a state where you are not aware of what you are doing. You’ll probably encounter a Police officer and having the information on you will help Police better understand how to help you.

My personal advice is to never buy a gun or other weapon. You could easily hurt or kill someone if your mind is not stable.

People Who Have Changed My Life For The Better

Sometimes people walk into our lives and years later you realize the impact they made in your life. In some cases, it hurts more before it gets better. No doubt you have people in your life that have done the same.

My grandparent’s support goes without saying

The 5th grade Music Teacher forced me to talk to my counselor about how I got the bruise on my face. This was one of the most traumatic experiences but she was doing her job. If a child looks like child abuse you have to take action.

My Probation Officer drove me to all of my Orthodontist appointments. She believed I could be reformed, I was on probation for carrying a gun the state took custody of me, and off to Bad-Girl Boarding School. If I had gone to a hard labor camp I don’t think I would have made it. My anger and attitude at the time would have driven me to the ground.

The Nuns and Father George at boarding school. The Nuns often gave positive affirmations and prayers. Father George was old as dirt but he took time out every day to teach me the piano.

My Counselor, Cathotholoism Teacher, and Godfather changed my life. He spent so many hours preparing me for Baptism and Confirmation. He was nerdy, had a double Ph.D., and was the most generous man I have known. He made me feel so smart!  After being told daily by my mother that I was stupid, she convinced me. I attended a celebration at his house and there were mostly educators there. They all treated me as an equal, not talking down to me, and they asked me some questions, it was one of the greatest days. He gave me Man’s Search for Meaning, along with several books on Psychology. He changed my life.

When I was 13 years old and in bad-girl boarding school, my Journalism teacher asked me to create a newsletter. Not only was it my dream to be a Journalist, but she also gave me full control of the content. What a confidence boost! She was young and one of the few people who came from outside the Convent to teach. I still have a copy and it’s hilarious but it’s so special to me.

I’ve been seeing my Therapist for almost 30 years and we’ve become close. She has a gentle approach and never pushes me. I’ve been able to resolve most of the trauma in my life working with her and she has taught me so much about myself.

I’ve been seeing my Psychopharmacologist for 32 years, I sought him out after my father committed suicide. For the first couple of years, I didn’t think he liked me. His style is gruff but after learning how to talk his language, everything worked out. He’s a genius, he probably has the DSM5 memorized. He’s been there thru all of the ups and downs, and he’s been so generous in teaching me about my Mental Illness. He’s retiring soon and it breaks my heart! Will I find a doctor that can fill his shoes?

Who has changed your life?

Hot and Heavy: The Role of a Clean Office in Promoting Employee Health

Are you tired of feeling stuffy and unproductive at work? Do you find yourself constantly sneezing or getting sick in the office? A clean office not only promotes good hygiene but also plays a crucial role in ensuring employee health and safety.

In this blog post, we’ll explore how maintaining a tidy workplace can lead to a healthy summer office and happier employees. So, get ready to turn up the heat on cleanliness – let’s dive in!

The Hazards of Working in a Hot Office

Working in a hot office can be extremely hazardous to your health. Such an environment can lead to dehydration, which can then lead to heat stroke. Unhealthy offices can also worsen conditions such as asthma and heart disease.

It is a good idea to keep your office clean and free of the clutter that will gather dust. A clean office will help you stay cool and comfortable and will also help you stay focused on your work.

Cleaning Tips for Hot Weather

Here are some cleaning tips to help you keep your office safe and comfortable during the hot weather months:

• Dust regularly and vacuum often to remove any build-up of dust and dirt.

• Wipe down surfaces with a disinfectant to prevent the spread of germs.

• Pay extra attention to high-touch areas such as door handles, light switches, keyboards, and telephones.

• Regularly empty trash cans and recycling bins to prevent unpleasant odors from developing in the heat.

• Encourage your employees to do their part by reminding them about basic hygiene practices such as washing hands frequently with soap or sanitizer and keeping their workspace tidy at all times.

Ways to Keep an Office Cool

When the temperatures start to rise, it can be difficult to keep your office cool. Bear in mind, though, that there are always things you can do to help make your office more comfortable for workers. These include:

1. Ensure the air conditioning inside the building is working properly. This may seem like an obvious solution, but it’s important to make sure the AC is running efficiently before taking any other steps.

2. Use fans strategically. Placing fans around the office can help circulate air and keep everyone cool. Just be careful not to point them directly at employees, as this can create a draft.

3. Keep windows covered. Sunlight streaming in through windows can make an already warm room feel even hotter. Closing blinds or curtains can help block out some of the heat.

4. Encourage employees to dress for the heat. Employees should avoid wearing heavy clothing or clothing that doesn’t breathe well in hot weather. Instead, opt for lightweight fabrics that will keep them cool.

5. Provide cool drinks and snacks. Keeping a stash of cold water bottles and light snacks like fruit or yogurt in the office will help employees stay hydrated and cooler throughout the day.

Benefits of a Clean Office Environment in Hot Weather

In hot weather, a clean office environment is important for promoting employee health and safety. A clean office allows employees to stay cool and comfortable and reduces the risk of heat-related illness. A clean office also provides a safe and healthy place for employees to work.

Employee Health and Safety Considerations

First and foremost, businesses should provide employees with a clean and safe working environment. This means ensuring that the office is free of dust, dirt, and other contaminants that could potentially cause health problems.

Furthermore, businesses should make sure that all office equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition. This includes making sure that chairs, desks, and other furniture are ergonomically designed and meet industry safety standards. It is important that businesses train their staff and provide them with the necessary resources to remain safe while on the job.

By taking these simple yet effective steps, businesses can ensure safer working environments are created.

Conclusion

A clean office is essential for creating a safe and healthy environment for employees. It will not only help reduce the likely spread of diseases but promote better employee morale, leading to improved productivity. With proper cleaning protocols in place, employers can ensure that their offices are free of dust and germs while providing an enjoyable working experience for everyone involved. Cleanliness should be an integral part of any workplace culture if businesses want to create a safe and efficient work environment where employees feel comfortable and productive.

It is such a simple and cost-effective way to improve office life for everyone, so it makes sense to have the office cleaned properly, particularly during the hot months.

If budgets are tight, then consider cleaning more during summer months, and hiring those that know how to achieve this in the shortest space of time.

How To Help Someone In A Mental Health Crisis

People who have a Mental Illness are like you and me, the only difference is instead of having Diabetes, they have wiring problems in the brain. Both have to take their medication or bad things can happen. Unless you know someone who has a Mental Illness you may have a stigma to overcome.

It’s a difficult time for people who have severe mental illness due to stigma and the ongoing hate in our country. Mental Illness is often overdramatized by television, nightly news, and trash rags, and Social Media is the worst.

There are many factors to consider when deciding to help a person during a Mental Health crisis. You can have the biggest heart in the world but your safety has to come first. If someone looks out of control, you can’t rush in and make the situation worst. You will have to help from afar.

The first step I would take if I saw someone acting, out of control, psychotic, delusional, talking to themself loudly, yelling out at people walking by, and maybe self-harm. against themselves, to name a few. I would call the police in the area, walk away and come back by to see they’re gone.

We want to help but we have to think about ourselves and our families. This is also a good read for teens that may find themself in a position to help. The way we can help reduce stigma is to learn the basics of Mental Health.

Even on medication or several medications people with severe mental illnesses, medications can stop working, some people will not take their medication and others have a more serious crisis. In an ideal world, we could easily find urgent  Mental Health support in several areas of the city.

One important note!

If someone is clearly having a crisis or breakdown you can access the situation from afar and CALL POLICE.

If you see someone in need you have a couple of choices.

Call the police.

Call someone that knows him that can help.

Ask someone in the general area, do they know him or do they have his/her’s phone number. I would go as far as calling the number but would not get involved.

If there is a Mental Health Charity nearby, go there and ask them to help him.

Call the police!!!!!!! I can’t say this enough because the person may not know what they’re doing, have a weapon, steal your purse, steal your phone, and could become violent. I have Treatment-Resistant Bipolar Disorder and have had my own crisis in my front yard with a Police pointing a gun at me.

*Most cities have talked for years about having several officers trained in Mental Health but I can’t say anything has been done.

We have to think hard these days about all people we meet, but if a person is erratic, violent, talking loudly to themselves, or walking in circles, you don’t have the skills to help and may get yourself hurt.

I watch almost nothing but Police, Law, and Spy show, you can imagine what I’ve seen. Television is drama, not real unless it states. When the show Dallas went off the air, I was in shock but quickly my mind settled, this was a nice overly dramatic show, just an escape.

The last thing I want to do is add to the STIGMA of Mental Illness, that goes against who I am. We need more free resources around town to support those in need. If you’re an abled body Advocate, look at the resources available in your town/city. Start relationships with the person by checking in every week, learn from this person where the crisis is happening, and see if you can get a Charity, Corporate or use your own money to build some signs, have a table with information about Mental Illness.

I hear too much disturbing news all day long, and so or our kids. Limiting children’s time on the computer and all social media, I don’t care if they’ve done it one way, You are the boss and the boss is making changes. Have strong settings on the phone, and don’t allow access to Social Media during school or other family functions.

While you are making changes to computer usage, your child might be savvy and try to get a phone. Don’t Do It!

Don’t fall for these B.S. Excuses!

My best friend has one

My bother has one

All the girls in my school have one.

I have to be a to reach my friends

With all the mass shootings in America scaring you as much as me, I would make some exceptions. As these are for school safety only and you can only call, the police, parents, or friends who may be able to help. Don’t allow them to get on the Internet from the phone.

Visit the NAMI for all information on Mental Illness and excellent support systems.

I have a passion for Mental Health Support and America is driving off the rails and leaving people on the streets and no support for their Mental Illness. Now is the time to bring the faces of Mental Illness to the front, and educate children and adults with real content and support services.

I did not say anything about helping someone yourself, when someone’s in a crisis they can get violent. I will never ask anyone to put their life in danger. One nice gesture, if they are calm, stop and get a couple bottles of water and a sandwich.

Looking for the Light Is Celebrating 14 years on WordPress

I first joined WordPress in 2005 with a blog called Defining Memories and in 2014 I started Looking for the Light.

There is no way to thank everyone who has supported me thru the years. I am grateful every time you visit or leave a comment. Looking for the Light is a passion of mine, I like helping others if I can and work hard to be an armchair advocate.

I would not be the person I am today without all the kind words and I’ve learned so much in the past 14 years, you are great bloggers.

If You’re Having WordPress Issues, Contact, Contact, And Contact Again

Are you having a problem with your WordPress site you are not alone and if luck you may get the issue fixed. Contact the Happiness Engineers every day, and contact them over and over until your issues are solved.

This is a similar post to what I’ve written about before, it’s a new problem that showed up yesterday. This is why Fortune 500 companies use the best practices for programmers by doing changes and updates offline. When programming is done live in the working with core systems, a fiasco continues almost daily.

My beef started on 5/11/2023 when the programmers jump in to make a change to the Reblog Sytems changes, I’ve had so many issues with bugs in the system, bugs that pop up before the original question I get answered.

WordPress has a bad reputation and I may have to share some articles with media and social media to see if WP gets the point.

I don’t want to leave WP, I want them to do their job, in a high-quality manner that services Bloggers.

Test Post for WordPress

I’ve been in heavy conversation with WordPress since 5/11/23 when they started on the Oh-So important Reblog changes. I hope this last post will give me the answer I need and no longer have to spend hours a day communicating with WordPress.

Thank you for hanging in while I work out my problems with WordPress.

I pray they get the sytem bugs worked out and then leave the process alone.

Have A Chronic Illness? Take Control By Shaving Your Head

*This post is from 2017 and I’ve updated it to capture the years between 2017 and 2023.

There are times when Chronic Illness can get the better of you. I had such a week resulting in shaving my hair off. I’m no GI Jane but do have a nice head minus the scars from brain surgery.

For the past 13 years, I’ve been a caregiver to my grandparents and spent time in Psychic Hospital twice for ECT treatments. Finding an answer to my heart problem took three years, two cardiologists, and a trip to The Mayo Clinic I had a diagnosis in four days.

The search for ?? (Lyme Diseases) started in 2012 and the diagnosis in 2014. It took two attempts to find a competent doctor and tons of frustration. I’m not driving, my cognitive abilities like balance and memory were taken by Lyme.

Last week I discovered a total knee replacement is required and scheduled for 11/14/17. All the falls from Lyme blew out my right knee.

                                                                                            Wild Crazy Hair

I’m not one to have a pity party but the weight on my shoulders became too much. I gave my husband many reasons why I shaved my head, the truth is CONTROL. I have four chronic illnesses and have to manage my health every day and every day can be different. There are many days I don’t have the strength to bathe, on those days I use medical-grade body wipes.

I’m 54, my mental illness is close to balanced, was looking forward to driving after several years, and most importantly I want to know who I am.

Shaving my head was liberating, a part of the new me came out. I can control some things and have to roll with the punches on others.

Can you imagine coming home from work to find your wife has shaved their head? My husband wasn’t surprised.

Happy Father’s Day Gramps

My Gramps was the one they broke the mold on, he was the calmest, help anyone in need, and family’s first type of man and he worked hard.

I was a previous drug addict, alcoholic, and an out-of-control teen when I went to live with my grandparents. Gramps was a year from retirement so he was about 62 years old, he looked forward to fishing and playing dominos every day. Now there’s a 14-year-old living with them, not something either of us expected.

They raised me with tough love, the Greatest Generation way. I had so many rules to follow and I did not want to disappoint my grandparents by breaking them.

I didn’t realize he was not my biological grandfather until about 8 or 9 years old. Granny and I were talking and I said why is Gramp’s name different than my father’s. I was crushed at first then realized how fortunate I was to have him in my life. He was the only father I had, my father created trauma in my life and I had little to do with him.

If only everyone had someone like my Gramps in their life.

I think of you and miss you so much my heart aches. See you soon.
