If you could meet a historical figure, who would it be and why?

WOW!!!!! I have a long list of histrorical people I would love to chat with and learn from. It’s a toss up between, George Washington, and Abraham Lincoln.

Why? because George Washington was the first President, a Founding Father, he didn’t belong to a political party and and presided over the convention that drafted the U.S. Constitution

George Washington

Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President, and His Emancipation Proclamation paved the way for slavery’s abolition, while his Gettysburg Address stands as one of the most famous pieces of oratory in American history.

What aspects of your cultural heritage are you most proud of or interested in?

I’m so proud my family history includes Native Americas from the Cherokee tribe. I don’t know who exactly married a Cherokee in the 1800’s, I think it was my granny’s grandfather. The best I can determine is I’m 1/16th Cherokee. I encourage you to read the brutal story of The Trail of Tears, it’s best book I’ve found that truthfully shares the inhumane treatment while being forced from their homes. Expect a few tears.

The American Indians have been raped fron the land since mankind landed in what became America. Years later our government took all their land and made them live of Reservations with little to no help from the American Government. It was vicious, making the tribes march to their new reservations. Many were killed, women were raped and when the Rolls of Cherokee’s were opened to prove they were American Cheerokee’s so many were distrusting of the government they refused to sign. I can only find one relative who is registered. If you didn’t register, you were not considered a member of the tribe and you and family received no benefits later offered to the American Indians.

American Indians lived in America for several hundred years and lived all over the United states. My perception about the tribes is they are survivors, were handed the worst and have made the best life with it. I won’t say it a good life because reservations have the highest rates of alcoholism, drug abuse and suicide. The casino’s look like and you would think the employees are paid nice, not true. Most live in extreme poverty.

It’s a sad in history for America, if the governments wants something, like land, they will take it.

Why Do We Celebrate Memorial Day?

Memorial Day is celebrated in many ways but let’s not forget what the meaning of the holiday is about. It’s a day to honor service members who gave their lives for our country, that means you and me. As you enjoy the long weekend, please remember the service members who gave their all.

Memorial Day honors fallen military personnel while celebrating their legacy.

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the U.S. dedicated to honoring military personnel who lost their lives in service to the country

The holiday originated after the Civil War, evolving to encompass all U.S. wars, and is observed on the last Monday of May each year

While often associated with barbecues and gatherings, the true essence of Memorial Day lies in remembrance and honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice

A disturbing issue for US service members

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Memorial Day is a U.S. holiday that’s supposed to be about mourning the nation’s fallen service members, but it’s come to anchor the unofficial start of summer and a long weekend of travel and discounts on anything from mattresses to lawn mowers.

Iraq War veteran Edmundo Eugenio Martinez Jr. said the day has lost so much meaning that many Americans “conflate and mix up Veterans Day, Memorial Day, Armed Forces Day, July Fourth.” Social media posts pay tribute to “everyone” who has served, when Memorial Day is about those who died.

For him, it’s about honoring 17 U.S. service members he knew who lost their lives.

“I was either there when they died or they were soldiers of mine, buddies of mine,” said Martinez, 48, an Army veteran who lives in Katy, Texas, west of Houston. “Some of them lost the battle after the war.”

From what I’ve seen over the past 20 years, he is correct.

The freedoms we enjoy today are because of the brave men and women who made a commitment to fight for our country through thick and thin and died defending us.

I’m Sending Love To All The Soldiers Fighting In Ukraine

There are soldiers from other countries fighting side by side with the Ukrainians and I want to say how much I appreciate your sacrifice. Many of you are fighting far away from your families and you yearn to see them. You are fighting for the freedom of the Ukrainian people and I can’t thank you enough for having the conviction of the heart. No doubt, you’ve made lifelong friends in the worst of situations, but the end will come and we can all celebrate.

I want to give a huge shout-out to the Americans who are helping support Ukraine, have a piece of pecan pie on me. You need to know you are not forgotten back home this Thanksgiving Day in fact I bet your families are praying for you and counting the days to see you.

Be safe and remember you’re in our hearts.

The Ukrainian flag colors.

Let’s Celebrate Veterans Day!

On November 11th we celebrate all Military Veterans but we should not forget the bravery and sacrifice they made and make every day of the year. Be sure to thank a veteran today and give them a hug.

                                      Korean War Memorial Washington D.C

World War I Memorial Washington DC

*We are long overdue for a memorial for the soldiers who fought in Afghanistan. Let’s make this happen! 20 years and thousands of lives lost. Let’s have a permanent memorial to celebrate their bravery.”

WordPress is jiggy today and won’t let write the names of the memorials. The first is the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the second is the WWII memorial. That’s not trash you see on the ground at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, it’s flowers or notes to a loved one.

Soldiers Field Memorial Rochester, Minnesota

The memorial is very nice, it was opened in 1996 and Rochester is very proud of the soldiers who gave all.

The day was extremely windy so I was not able to get many photographs but I’m thrilled with the ones I did, The images itched into the granite are breathtakingly real.
