There are a number of things you need to know before embarking on a travel adventure. For many people, going on a trip is something they’ve always wanted to do, but it’s not something you can simply just start without any preparation. You need to do a lot of planning and research, and you also need to learn how to control your expectations. Because every location and journey is unique, it’s important to brush up on the essentials before you go; read on to find out more.
If you want to spend less money when traveling, you need to learn how to save money. There are a lot of things that might add up if you approach your adventure like a typical vacation, so it’s vital to spend some time thinking about what’s most important to you. To save money, you may have to give up staying in posh hotels and dining out every night.
Reducing the amount of luggage you bring, learning how to get inexpensive flights, and even traveling in the off-season can all help you save money when you travel. When you’re planning a trip, it’s a good idea to look for ways to save money and tailor your trip accordingly.
What you can and cannot do while you’re gone will be dictated by how you pack, so prepare accordingly. Of course, if you’re just going to stay in one hotel, it doesn’t hurt to bring a few extra things with you since you won’t be dragging them around from place to place. If, on the other hand, you want to travel, you’ll want to learn to pack light since you don’t want to be carrying heavy baggage from place to place and run the risk of losing things on the way.
It’s difficult to pack lightly if you’ve never done it before, but a general guideline is to bring just what you need, bearing in mind that you can purchase some items at your destination if you really need to. Check that you have adequate room for your crucial papers and gadgets that you will need while you are there. You’ll most likely need your phone, a power bank, a camera, and a travel adapter to charge all of your electronics. If you’re planning on camping or hiking, you’ll also need your specialist equipment from ECOGEAR FX.
Depending on where you’re going and the country you’re coming from, you’ll require a different set of paperwork. You may be required to travel with a certain passport and a visa in some cases. If you don’t do your homework in advance, your trip will be a disaster; you might not even get to go in the first place. You should always double-check your understanding of the requirements before proceeding so you aren’t disappointed and don’t lose a lot of money.
Also, it’s a good idea to keep a copy of your papers in a separate location just in case. On top of this, always have all your passport information and additional passport photos with you on any trip. This could save you a lot of trouble if yours goes missing. Having a backup plan in case you lose your passport while traveling might make things a lot less stressful.

You would be celebrating your 101st birthday today if God hadn’t called you home at 85 years old. Boy, what life you had. From being born very poor, to losing your father at nine years old, being a single parent with a newborn baby, raising my father single-handled until he was 10 years old and burying your son.

One of the most important lessons life taught you at a young age is to appreciate what you have and to work hard for what you want. You passed those lessons on to me and they are my foundation.
You were shy, not easy to get to know, and liked to be home. You didn’t need things or places to make you happy as long as you had Gramps. I’ve never seen someone love another so much as you two loved each other, every day until the end.
You saved all the cards Gramps bought you over the years, he didn’t know and one day we were cleaning out a cabinet and there they were. He melted, his blue eyes were shining so bright.
You were my backbone, you loved me when my mother didn’t. You raised me, worked hard to provide a better life than you had, and taught me lessons that helped me in life.
I’ve never known the unconditional love of another like yours.
I miss you every day and have so many great memories of our time together. Like when I was three years old and you were teaching me how to do laundry and I had my sunglasses on and dropped them in the washer. I just knew they were ruined. As I got a little older you put my little step stool by the sink next to you and I would rinse the dishes and put them to drain, as you cleaned the stove I would dry.
As I grew older, you knew what I was doing on weekends, so you went behind Gramps back and would tell me not to take any medicine if it might interfere with alcohol.
You let me make my own decisions and let me deal with the consequences. When I said I wanted to get married at 18 years old, you approved. When I divorced at 19 years old you told me life was hard.
Thank you for every lesson and every day we had together, I would not be the person I am today without your love and support.

On January 15, 1929, Martin Luther King Jr. is born in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of a Baptist minister. King received a doctorate degree in theology and in 1955 helped organize the first major protest of the African American civil rights movement: the successful Montgomery Bus Boycott. Influenced by Mohandas Gandhi, he advocated civil disobedience and nonviolent resistance to segregation in the South. The peaceful protests he led throughout the American South were often met with violence, but King and his followers persisted, and the movement gained momentum.
I like the last two the best, they really get down to the point of life.
Martin Luther King Jr. was a good man, a man of God who sought change without violence.

I always use a fake birthday when filling out forms on the Internet, just one less piece of info some stranger has on me. January 19th is my fake birthday, actually, it’s my granny’s birthday and I’ve set up a fundraiser. I’ve never done this before on Facebook and don’t know if anyone will donate but I’m putting it out there.
I’ve chosen the ASPCA to receive all the funds directly and Facebook administers the process.
From rescue to recovery to adoption, the ASPCA is there for animals every step of the way. We pride ourselves in not just saving lives, but in changing them for the better—and none of it would be possible without the support of people like you. When you donate to the ASPCA today, you can help us continue to fight for animals on all fronts. Please make a gift right now. www.aspca.org

National Bagel Day is January 15. Bagels have a history that is richer than your favorite cream cheese spread! These rounds of dough can be found just about anywhere: breakfast joints, coffee shops, supermarkets, or even your kitchen pantry. In fact, 2018 saw more than 354 million bagels sold.
Bagels have a long and highly documented history that travels from the Jewish families of Poland in the 1600s to wrapped up in parchment paper in your hands today. And, unlike many things created nearly five-hundred years ago, bagels are remarkably unchanged. Sure, cream cheeses and butters and flavors and toppings may have evolved over time but bagel is a beigel is a beygal.
Bagels made the jump to America with a massive Polish-Jewish immigration in the 1800s that firmly entrenched itself in New York City where it thrived. In fact, an entire union was created in the early 1900s called Bagel Bakers Local 338 to support the growing, immigrant-led industry. That also begat the “bagel brunch,” that we still enjoy to this day with little to no changes: lox, cream cheese, capers, tomatoes, and red onions.
While bagels were hugely popular in New York City almost immediately, they didn’t make their way to the national scale until the mid 20th-century where automation and bread slicing (the coolest thing!) made mass manufacturing much more efficient. Since then, bagels have taken off to include a variety of flours, toppings, dips and smears but still remain – by and large – exactly as they were in the 1600s.
Who knew bagels had been around so long?
I love bagels by themselves in blueberrry, chocolate and cinnamon rasin flavors. I also love bagel samwiches.
I hope you celebrate the day with your choice of bagel.

Enjoy!

Glaucoma is a leading cause of vision loss and blindness in the United States. Glaucoma has no early symptoms — that’s why half of people with glaucoma don’t know they have it.
The only way to find out if you have glaucoma is to get a comprehensive dilated eye exam. There’s no cure for glaucoma, but early treatment can often stop the damage and protect your vision.
Anyone can get glaucoma, but those at higher risk include:
I encourage you to have your eyes checked yearly and stay on top of any eye issues, your sight depends on it.

Imagine if the older you got, the younger you felt.
It sounds like an impossibility. In the West, we believe that as the body ages, so too does the mind.
But is that true? Of course, not. In this post, we take a look at some of the ways that you can keep yourself young on the inside. Check them out below.
Human beings without love generally go mad. If it’s not in our lives, we can’t cope. That’s why it is so important to keep the love alive in your relationships, whether romantic or otherwise. If you can keep the spark going between you and others, you’ll feel younger – perhaps like you did when you were a teenager.
Another way to stay young is to start traveling. Going overseas and seeing new things reminds you that life is an adventure and that there are always new things to see and do.
When you go to new places, it makes you feel like you’re young again because it introduces you to a new experience. When you visit a new place, you get all the smells, sights, and sounds that come with it. And these affect you both consciously and unconsciously.
Have you noticed how much better you feel after you get back from a vacation? It’s all to do with how it rewires your brain.
Being part of a community is essential for feeling younger. You’re less isolated and can share your thoughts and ideas with other people.
The best retirement community organizations facilitate interactions between members. They make sure that there are always group activities to enjoy, no matter what your physical condition or medical needs.
Being active reminds your body that the game isn’t over yet. There’s still plenty to do. It sends a signal to all your cells that they need to keep on fighting and make themselves stronger.
When you get more active, you soon discover a new sense of wellbeing and energy. Remember, the amount of energy that you have isn’t a finite stock. Instead, you create more energy, the more you do.
Exercise is also a great way to fight many of the diseases of aging that can make you feel older. It helps to stave off heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and even cancer. What’s more, it can be an important part of pain management, helping you deal with many of the challenges that you face.
As you get older, you should strive to spend as much time in nature as you can. Sunlight encourages the production of the feel-good factor, serotonin, which helps the body to relax and may even keep you young.
The sights, sounds, and smells of nature are also intrinsically relaxing. Basking in them can help reduce stress and fatigue, particularly if you’ve had a long week.
In summary, it is possible to grow older on the outside, but feel younger on the inside. It’s all about reconnecting with the playfulness of your child’s self.

People are frequently misled into believing that leading a healthy lifestyle entails drastically altering all of their present habits in one fell swoop. This is one of the most common reasons why people fail to maintain their positive adjustments and relapse to their old behaviors, especially when they believe they have a lot to change. Making little modifications rather than a single big change will improve the journey, make it easier, and increase your chances of success.
If you make a few small changes, such as adding more vegetables to your plate or going for a walk during your lunch break instead of diving into a gym commitment and eliminating all carbs from your diet, you will find success and dedication. Plus, if you make a mistake, it’s far easier to go back on course than if you entirely modify everything.
Let’s look at some modest changes you may do to live a healthier lifestyle:
Although quick fixes and supplements may appear to be a good idea, you should be aware of the possibility of negative side effects and long-term consequences. Many people successfully use supplements, pain relievers, and heartburn cures, but it’s important to know what you’re putting into your system and why. Sometimes prescribed medications can lead to addiction. If you ever need help make sure you have a look at some American Addiction Centers reviews.
When it comes to your dietary intake, there is a lot to consider. You should consider how much you eat, whether you’re eating a well-balanced diet, and how much you actually require for your type of body, age, and height, as well as attempting to eat ‘clean.’ It’s difficult, and it’s one of the most common reasons individuals fail when they think they need to diet. Examine which foods are healthy for you and make gradual changes to your diet. If you want to reduce weight or simply eat more nutritiously, you don’t have to completely exclude some foods.
It’s believed that in order to make a shift for a better lifestyle, they must either conduct tough activities every day or join a gym. This isn’t the case, and you’re more likely to struggle with your shift because your body and mind aren’t used to it. Small modifications to your fitness routine, such as taking a walk during lunch, walking to the store instead of driving, and arranging active family days out, could be a good place to start. You can then add a few workouts or strengthening exercises to your regimen once you’ve gotten acclimated to doing the more easy activity.
When trying to live a healthy lifestyle, keep in mind that it’s not about making drastic changes all at once; instead, start small and work your way up. You will get success as a result of it.
Are there any other little changes you could make to assist you to live a healthier lifestyle?
This is a collaborative post.

I am considering discontinuing Weekend Music Share due to concerns that people aren’t clicking on the links to go to YouTube out of concern for clicking on a link. YouTube no longer includes a photo of the video on most songs anymore and so what you get is a link or a big black box with a go-to YouTube to watch graphic.

So glad you stopped by today, I look forward to your comments each week.
