My Fav Alternative Medicine Hacks

It takes more than eating right and taking medication to stay healthy and be our best selves physically and mentally. Alternative Medicine has been used for thousands of years and if truth be told, since the beginning of time.

What is Alternative Medicine?

It’s complementary to Traditional Medicine which we are most familiar with. The two can work hand in hand to provide a total health solution. Some forms are Homeopathy, Acupressure, Acupuncture, Natural Medicine, Naturopathy, Ayurveda, Biofield therapy, Bioelectromagnetic therapy, Chiropractic and Reiki

I don’t buy into all the methods of Alternative Medicine but believe in those I’ve seen results for or studies results. These are my favorite Alternative Medicine hacks to help augment Traditional Medicine which I reply heavily on.

  1. I take grape seed extract and mercury free fish oil capsules every day. I use other health supplements too, but these are my favorites by far. The difference these two supplements have made in my physical health is astounding. I buy most of our health supplements from Puritan’s Pride.

For my emotional and mental health, I eat two servings of raw chopped walnuts every day, 1/4 cup in the morning and 1/4 cup in the evening. Doing this has completely relieved my depression. Years of taking antidepressants did not help me at all. About 8 or 9 years ago, I did an extensive online search and learned about the benefits of eating walnuts to alleviate depression. I bought a big bag of raw natural walnuts and the difference, after just a few days, was astounding. I had been on the prescribed antidepressant for so many years, that I had to do an ultra slow taper to keep from being overwhelmed by the withdrawal. It took me over a year to safely taper completely off the Zoloft. But after that, what a difference! I never want to be without my walnuts, though. Other nuts, like pecans and pistachios, can help, but walnuts work best for me.

I also stopped drinking coffee and all other drinks that contain caffeine, about 7 years ago. I had an awful caffeine withdrawal headache for 3 or 4 days, but after that, WOW — the peace I felt was incredible. I believe that most, if not all, of the anxiety that I had endured for much of my life was caused by caffeine.
